A massive mag 7.2 quake strikes directly under The Zhupanovsky volcano which released ash 8 kilometers into Russia's Far Eastern Kamchatka Peninsula sky just two weeks ago.
A massive mag 7.2 quake - 91km N of Yelizovo, Russia is the second magnitude 7+ quake to hit the area this week after a huge mag 7.1 earthquake shook Alaska on Sunday.
The National Data Buoy Center clearly shows two buoys in event mode, see top left.

The quake appears to have happened under the Zhupanovsky volcano in Russia's Far Eastern Kamchatka Peninsula which released ash to the height of 8 kilometers above the sea level after almost two months of relative calm just two weeks ago, it will be worth keeping an eye on this volcano in the coming day's.
The January 30, 2016 M 7.2 earthquake beneath the Kamchatka Penninsula of Russia occurred as the result of oblique-normal faulting at a depth of 180 km.
At the location of this earthquake, the Pacific plate is moving towards the west-northwest with respect to the North America and Eurasia plates at a rate of approximately 77 mm/yr.
Today's quake is the 10th major quake of January and the 10th of 2016....
