A 'suspicious' device allegedly used to track UFOs was reported to the police in New Jersey State Park recently.
The incident, which took place on April 9th, saw local authorities attend the scene of a peculiar device - described as a 'UFO detector' - that had been discovered by a member of the public.
Comprised of a cylindrical metal can mounted onto some wood with a cable sticking out and a pole-like extension mounted on top, the strange object was found on Saw Dust Pile Road in Tabernacle.
Concerned that it could be some type of explosive device, officers called in a special bomb-sniffing dog unit to investigate the contraption for signs of dangerous substances.
"The device was carefully 'disarmed' by NJ State Park Police personnel by unplugging the headphone wire from the block of wood and the soup can it was plugged into," the department wrote.
"Although human kind and the visitors to New Jersey's State Parks appreciate an extra-terrestrial early warning device like this, we should not be finding them in our State Parks."
"Please always be safe when around suspicious objects like this and always notify the NJ State Park Police... if a suspicious object is found in our State Parks."
Today the NJ State Park Police were made aware of a “UFO Detector Site” which was located on Saw Dust Pile Road in Tabernacle Twp. in Wharton State Forest. After examination by members of the NJSPP Detective Unit and NJSPP K-9 Unit, our Explosive Detecting K-9 “Prime” was deployed. Prime determined the UFO Detecting Device was safe. The device was carefully "disarmed" by NJ State Park Police personnel by unplugging the headphone wire from the block of wood and the soup can... See More
