SPIRITUAL LIONS

Thoughts are one thing, and we create with our thoughts, but actions are required in any endeavour. Your action may be as simple as distributing the written word, teaching on a one to one or to a whole room full of people or indeed joining others in silent or verbal but peaceful demonstration. If you cannot move from where you are, you may find the only method of communication possible to reach others is through email or social media. It can all be described as action.
If you want anything in this life it is a certainty that action is required. Some have dedicated themselves to a form of action that others may find too difficult while some would see it as a retreat from the world and the opposite of action. Of course, I speak of the rigid disciplines involved in the many religious orders that pray on behalf of the rest of humanity, for an end to wars, for peace love and harmony to enter the hearts and minds of all. And with these dedicated Souls we share a bond.
Our communicators warned us in advance of the collapse of currencies and of the polarisation of populations that would lead to the Days of Rage that are plaguing so many societies across the globe right now. The popular movements for change, to rid societies of despots, are all very well but what is needed in any uprising is a coherence among the disenchanted to bring the minds to a common understanding and compromise before any change becomes manifest.
When that does happen there must be someone of the stature of a Lion to take control and lead the rest forward to a new beginning. Often the Lion by its very nature is a lazy beast and needs the confrontation with another in order for the true power, passion and hidden command of a situation to show itself. And so, although frowned on by the media a little infighting is in the natural course of events that will produce the true leader. The fittest will survive!
The thought occurs that we cannot all be leaders, but you can lead yourself onto a new path in a new way of being to further your own ends, your career or your personal life and as always a leaf from the monks method of meditation is often the only key that most of us need to don the mane of the Lion. HPT every day!
No more thoughts: that you are not good enough or worthy enough or strong enough. You have to be the Lion for yourself. We have to face the fact that not everyone will agree with what you have to say, but a message that disturbs is a message that is beginning to be heard.

So many are lost, like the drugged Lotus-eaters, not necessarily on drugs, but in a miasma of hurt, fear and depression and need our help to enable them to find their own courage, or Lion self, buried deep within. Are you willing to step up and offer the helping hand, the listening ear and the shoulder of comfort? Are you the gentle Lion sitting in your majesty that needs a poke or confrontation to stir you into action?
You want to act but don’t know how, so the first step may be to talk to your friends and neighbours. Experience tells me not to start with family who will immediately want to know who you think you are! You may already be a member of a group where there are those you see in difficulty. Offer to help or better still, help!
It is a fact that you can only change the world by beginning with yourself and then with those close to you, remembering that from little acorns mighty oaks will grow! Find your own courage and recognise the Lion in you as you gather your pride around you.
