A huge 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck China on 12/12/14 at 19:48 UTC, followed by multiple others ranging from 4.0 to 5.0 magnitudes, according to the USGS, screen shot below.
The earthquake struck China’s western region of Xinjiang which fortunately is sparsely populated. According to The Times Of India, China’s Earthquake Network Centre lists the earthquake as a massive 7.3, providing a contrast in the USGS readings from their own readings, which helps explain the differences in magnitudes in different reports across the internet and in the videos below.
