Malaysia Airlines has said it is contacting the next-of-kin of the passengers and crew.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with all affected passengers and crew and their family members,” Malaysia Airlines CEO Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said in a statement.
The airline said it would provide “regular updates” on the situation and has set up the phone line +603 7884 1234 for concerned members of the public.

- The Malaysian Airlines plane with 239 people on board is believed to have crashed into the sea after losing contact with air traffic control.
- Terrorism not ruled out after two passengers discovered to be travelling on stolen passports.
- Malaysia’s Civil Aviation Chief says there are no signs of abnormality on the data received from the flight, but that “all angles” are being investigated.
- Malaysia Airlines says a disaster recovery team is being sent from the US to help and that it is now ”fearing the worse” over the missing flight.

Malaysia: 38
Indonesia: 12
Australia: 7
US: 4 including infant
France: 3
New Zealand: 2
Ukraine: 2
Canada: 2
Italy, Taiwan, Netherlands, Austria: 1 each
