The concern for all of us is "Mox Fuel" and unless a Geiger Counter covers all of these types of radiation, it's back to the drawing board. MOX fuel is the type of fuel used in the Japan nuclear reactors--much more deadly than the Chernobyl fuel.
So, I must confirm, if buying any unit, does the unit/Geiger Counter detect Alpha, Beta AND Gamma.
You may find a Geiger counter at a military surplus store, but again. make certain it reads Alpha, Beta and Gamma.

I notice they turn off monitors that are higher than 50 CPM. Here in North Carolina, we are 128 CPM at Grandfathers Mountain, North Carolina. A few of us have the right dector that shows 135 CPM rain off the hood of our cars after the rain. Others report ditto in their States.
I am just the messenger, I know nothing!
It's not just radiation from Japan to blame. Ask yourself? Why is this happening? Who is doing this?Later.
