Ummm is that a cannon on Mars?

Another incredibly bizarre image has been photographed on the Red Planet. This time, we can add to the list of "animals", "cubes", "perfect spheres", "traffic lights" and helmets something that seems to resemble a cannon. The question is of course, what is it? NASA has yet to comment on the image that has ufologists and enthusiasts going wild. Is it possible that this findings actually just highlights how unusual Martian rock formations can get?
Remember that Curiosity took a couple of interesting images on Mars, one of them was taken on Sol 120. In the background strange objects are scattered all over the place and one of them in particular looks like a cube, this object appears totally “out of place” and is unlike any other “geological formation in the vicinity”.
The amount of images that have been received from the surface of the red planet are almost uncountable. With NASA's rovers working "full steam" 27/7 on the red planet, you would expect to see some pretty strange images from Mars, but is this latest finding pushing it?
The strangest part about this images is the fact that there aren't any similar rocks, or rocks at all, in the vicinity of it. The image was taken July 29 , or Sol 723 in terms of Martian days, by the Curiosity rover's right mastcam. This "civil war" type cannon was discovered in Amargosa Valley, near Mount Sharp on Mars.
Remember that NASA's rovers have sent to Earth very bizarre images from the red planet. Do you remember when an image surfaced online allegedly showing a "person" fixing NASA's curiosity rover? Ufologists said the shadow of a 'human-like' figure can be seen leaning over the space probe and carrying out repairs. It has previously been claimed that Mars is the ‘off-world’ base for a group of ‘Non-Terrestrial Officers' controlled by the Pentagon, the US military's command centre.
The image created all kinds of opinions regarding the red planet, but after all it turned out to be just a "shadow" from the Curiosity rover.

So after looking at the images of this bizarre finding, what are your thoughts? How many more of these mysterious discoveries are going to pop up from the red planet?
Is this Paraeidolia working it's thing on our brain as many people suggest? Or is it possible that there might actually be something on the surface of the red planet that cannot be attribute to Mars' mother nature?
