The skies over Peru seem to be filled with UFOs and the latest sighting is one that has people comparing it to the famous Phoenix Lights. On June 22nd, two men in Tarma, Peru, recorded a flotilla of what appeared to be from five to seven moving lights flying at 5 a.m. for at least fifteen minutes. Were they witnessing what will someday be called the Peruvian Lights?
The men, a father and his son who did not reveal their names, didn’t provide much information with their video. They mention that Tarma (Santa Ana de la Ribera de Tarma) is the capital city of Tarma Province and located in the Junín Region. That puts the sighting just under 150 miles west of Lima and about 660 miles north of the Nazca Lines. The lights appeared near the plains that surround Tarma and seemed to move around but stay in relatively the same positions in the flotilla line. The video ends with the men moving the camera around to show the location where they were shooting from.
Why are there so many UFO sightings in Peru? Just this year there have been reports of a humanoid flying over Puerto Maldonado in southeastern Peru, a fiery bright object falling from the sky in Lima and a purple UFO over Lima that was witnessed by many people, including a TV crew and Lima Congressman Renzo Reggiardo, the politician they were supposed to be recording instead of the UFO. Are these UFOs being attracted by or getting directions from the Nazca Lines, those mysterious geoglyphs believed by many to be messages or maps made by aliens?
One of the many Nazca Lines
The original Phoenix Lights maintained their formation while these lights over Tarma moved about, even though they stayed in position relative to each other. Later sightings of lights over Phoenix showed similar behavior. While there were many witnesses of the Phoenix lights, including the Arizona governor, so far only these two men have claimed to see the Peruvian flotilla.
The Phoenix Lights
What did these men see? Will we someday be talking about the Tarma Lights in the same breath as the Phoenix Lights? Only time will tell.
