Panda ‘Daycare’ Practically Too Adorable to be True
earth porm
The “daycare” is actually a specialized breeding center and nursery that was established in 1998 with the sole aim to revitalize the dwindling wild population, which is less than 2,000. Each and every cub is special, not just because of how adorable they are, but because of how difficult it is to get pandas to breed. Females are able to breed for only 2 to 3 days a year, and they only give birth to one cub every two years.
The center’s geographic location and excellent technological and professional resources allow it to carry out the off-site conservation efforts and to improve the artificial reproduction procedures to increase the giant panda population. When population levels have reached desired levels, the Chengdu Panda Base will shift its efforts toward helping giant pandas adapt to their natural habitats so can be released into the wild and repopulate their native homeland.
