Dave Nemeyer, fire marshal of the Forest Grove Fire and Rescue in Forest Grove, Oregon, told ABC News that a resident described it as coming from the middle of the street. “It’s definitely a horrendous noise. I have no idea what the noise is. To me, it sounds like the sound of train tracks, that metal screeching sound, but there are no train tracks near her home … so that’s obviously ruled out.”

Could it be someone’s brakes? Or maybe train tracks are nearby? A mysterious shrieking sound is baffling people in a neighborhood in Forest Grove, Oregon.

One woman told KATU that the noise has woken her up several times.
