KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. — Police said they are searching for a suspect who is driving around the area and randomly shooting at people. Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Paul Matyas confirms to FOX 17 that six people have been shot and killed at a Cracker Barrel and a car dealership. Four people were killed at the Cracker Barrel restaurant in Texas Township, while two were killed at Seelye KIA on Stadium Drive. Matyas said they believe the suspect, a white man in his 50s, is driving a blue Chevy HHR like the one pictured (link)

Earlier reports had suggested there were four shooting locations. One of the dead is understood to have been an eight-year-old child who was eating at a Cracker Barrel restaurant. At least three people have been wounded: a nine-year-old is in hospital in critical condition and a woman is in serious condition, according to police.

Police: 7 dead, suspect in custody following Kalamazoo mass shooting Andrew Krietz, 4:16 AM. EST February 21, 2016 KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WZZM) — A 45-year-old white male is in police custody following a shooting spree in Kalamazoo that left seven people dead and three people wounded. The suspect surrendered without incident but had weapons in his vehicle, Michigan State Police Lt. Dale Hinz said. He was arrested at 12:40 a.m. Sunday at Ransom and Porter streets. The first shooting happened around 6 p.m. Saturday at Meadows Townhomes, located on Kalamazoo’s Northeast Side. Police say the shooter shot a woman four times at the complex’s parking lot. That woman is in serious condition. The second shooting happened at 10 p.m. at the Seeyle Kia of Kalamazoo car dealership at 3820 Stadium Drive, where two people were shot and killed while they were sitting in their cars. A third shooting happened about 15 minutes later at Cracker Barrel near I-94, west of Kalamazoo. A total of five people were shot and killed. A 14-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries, adding to the total. Police are investigating a fourth report of shots fired near 6th Street and W. OP Avenue. That happened at around 1 a.m. Sunday. No word of anyone being hurt in that shooting.
I wish all survivors of this horrible crime recovery. At the moment, we don’t know yet the motive for this mass murder. We also don’t know yet whether the perpetrator used legal or illegal firearms. I guess, however, that if the perpetrator would have been African American, corporate media might have used the word ‘terrorist’. Now that the suspect is white, I don’t see that word. Unless, maybe, if that suspect might turn out to be a Muslim, or might be wrongly described in media as Muslim … Update: the name of the suspect is Jason Dalton.
