Update: Fidel Castro was blood type A negative
According to his former bodyguard Juan Reinaldo Sanchez as written in his book “Fidel Castro’s Hidden Life”, Fidel Castro wanted to make sure that there was always someone whose blood type matched his in case there needed to be a transfusion.

Update: Fidel Castro was blood type A negative
According to his former bodyguard Juan Reinaldo Sanchez as written in his book “Fidel Castro’s Hidden Life”, Fidel Castro wanted to make sure that there was always someone whose blood type matched his in case there needed to be a transfusion.
What his exact blood type is has not been stated. His father Ángel Castro y Argiz came to Cuba from Galicia, northwest Spain and his mother was his maid.He always traveled with 10 bodyguards, and two of them had to have his blood type in case he needed an emergency transfusion. Castro didn’t trust stored blood.
