Yesterday Nasa announced a press event that will take place on the 22nd of February 2017. The main question is of course what the big announcement will be. We do know that it involves "a discovery beyond our solarsystem" regarding exoplanets.
My personnal guess is that Nasa will announce the discovery of liquid water on of the already discovered exoplanet using the transit method, measuring the decrease in flux during transit. This would be an amazing discovery because liquid water is one of the key indicators that life on this planet would be possible. My personal opinion is that water will be discovered on Proxima Centauri B, an exoplanet that was disovered in 2016 circling Proxima Centauri, our closest neighboring star at 4 lightyears away. Scientists were waiting for a transit of the exoplanet as seen from earth and my guess is that we were lucky and discovered liquid water of Proxima Centauri B. But it's more lickely that water was discovered on another exoplanet. Looking forward to tomorrow's event and thanks for watching and subscribing!
