After several months without any 7.0+ activity, today a large M7.1 (M6.7) earthquake has struck along the coast of central Chile near Valpariso.

This M7.1 earthquake follows other mid-M6.0's to the North at the Bolivia border, and at Ecuador / Columbia's border from earlier in the week.
All this activity in South America follows the flurry of deep earthquakes in the West Pacific, traced back via the two large "red arrows" seen in the video.
