Here We Go Again – Tit for Tat

I can’t believe that every time there is a terrorist attack, the attacker is more important than the possible reason this attacker did what he/she did. Why are we not asking WHY these people are doing this? We bomb their countries, kill their mothers, children and in many cases entire families then expect them to just bow down and thank us for that?
Terrorism is just a term. Someone that causes terror is a terrorist. Our governments are terrorists because they create laws that cause us to live in fear of breaking them. Our governments don’t give a damn about your freedom or democratic rights because so long as you stay quiet and docile, they can do anything they want. Their greatest fear is YOU joining with others and marching on to their government offices and demanding their resignations. Better yet, how about demanding they answer to all the murders they signed off and charging them with war crimes.
The people that have been killing people all over Europe were people like you and me. They lived had families, jobs and dreams for their children. These people most likely lost either close ones, friends or simply went mad after seeing their country totally destroyed. Would you just sit around and watch while everyone in your family is being killed? Would you thank your occupier/attacker? Would you accept their deaths as part of life or part of combating terrorism? Would you really?
An Englishman’s life or a German’s life is no better or valuable than a Palestinian’s life or Syrian life or Iraqi life. Our separation of countries, cultures and religion has also separated us from compassion that we can’t feel for others. I’m very close to what is going on in Europe but as we sit in our cafes and talk about it, you will hear the same thing: “This is what they get when American wants it’s way. This is the result of American diplomacy, forcing democracy on those countries that didn’t even ask for it. This is what happens when American government decides to take down a so called dictator and demand regime change.
We’re not stupid here, luckily CNN and MSN are not part of our regular programming. In order to watch it, you need to pay for them so most people don’t watch CNN. Not to say our local media outlets are any better, thanks to the internet we are able to connect with whatever news we choose to listen to.
It’s sad that people have to die and get hurt in these horrible attacks, but it’s also sadder that we have destroyed countries, their culture, their history, their dreams and left millions of children as orphans. How dare we blame the lone gunmen or the so called terrorists for what is happening. We created it, by allowing our governments to intervene in foreign countries and this is the price we must all pay.
Solutions? Simple. Leave these countries alone, close down your embassies and pay for the damages caused by our bombs and let these people choose their own destinies, their own futures and their own rebuilding. They don’t need our advice. These cultures lived together for thousands of years until we decided to force our democracies on them.
Time to say it like it is. You may not like this, but unless you have a better argument, I would say that we really fucked up by choosing to allow our governments take control of our lives while we watched the Kardashians display their pitiful life of filthy wealth.
And um, and um, and um, well, yes….we are just as responsible for what is going on as our governments. We need to stop killing them and they will stop killing us. How difficult is that?
