The celebrities who survived the barrage of sexual assault allegations that rocked Hollywood last year all joined at the Golden Globe Awards last night, most wearing black in support of the “Time’s Up” movement, which stands in solidarity with the victims of sexual abuse. Only three women wore other colors.
The most memorable speech of the night came from Oprah, a woman who many speculate will run for president (and one Trump once said he wanted as his VP). NBC even implied that Oprah will run for and win the presidency sometime in the future in a now-deleted tweet:
As the Daily Wire reported,
Oprah Winfrey slammed Hollywood’s sexual predators on Sunday night during the 75th Golden Globe Awards when she accepted this year’s Cecil B. DeMille Award for her “incredible impact on the world of entertainment.”
Winfrey became the first African-American woman in history to win the award. She took the opportunity to talk about the #MeToo movement and Hollywood’s sexual misconduct problem.

Here is some of what Oprah said:
Absent from her speech? Naming a single abuser by name – including the devil himself, Harvey Weinstein.“For too long, women have not been heard or believed if they dared to speak their truth to the power to those men, but their time is up. Their time is up! A new day is on the horizon. And when that new day finally dawns, it will be because of a lot of magnificent women, many of whom are in this room tonight, and some pretty phenomenal men, fighting hard to make sure that they become the leaders who take us to the time when nobody ever has to say ‘Me Too’ again.”
That’s not a surprise. The two were very close once.
And here’s a question nobody is asking: How many abusers were present last night, wearing black?
If Harvey Weinstein was never exposed, would he have been among those wearing black last night? Of course! Weinstein was once a vocal champion of women’s rights. Heck, Weinstein himself helped endow a chair at Rutgers in feminist icon Gloria Steinem’s name.
Actions speak louder than words, and all we’ve seen from Hollywood are a whole lot of words.
If I had to guess, I’d say that Winfrey’s presidential chances have decreased significantly due to her relationship with Weinstein.
