If you live in the North Hemisphere, March 2018 is a great month for catching all five bright planets, either after sunset or before dawn. If you live in the Southern Hemisphere you'll have your best chance to catch the five planets in April 2018. Visible planets are those that can be seen with the naked eye, as opposed to Uranus, Neptune and former planet Pluto, which require telescopes to be viewed. Venus and Mercury will be visible from Earth after sunset. The two planets will be very near each other on the sky's dome all month long. Look low in the west just after sunset. Mars, Saturn and Jupiter will be visible after midnight or in the predawn hours. Great Planetary Alignment See three planets in a line before dawn Early risers in March will be able to enjoy a celestial spectacle in the southeastern sky at dawn, as Saturn, Mars and Jupiter will seem to hover near each other in the sky.
