In my retail days in the not to distant past, I was a store mgr of a Health Food Store in Scottsdale AZ. I was very close with the produce buyer. He asked me if I wanted to go through Nogales Az to Nogales Mx to see the lettuce farms, and to enjoy the local night life.  He told me the farms were massive in size...So down we go and we cross into Mexico. When we get there, the lettuce fields are indeed massive in size. What I noticed is that they were packing product on both sides.On one side it was a much smaller group. .When I asked why, I was told that lettuce that was not perfect was passed on to the customers in the US as organic....Thats when I started buying local only, from the farm stands...Not much truth out there folks....
