2018’s First Mercury Retrograde

Retrograde energies get a bad rap…
Retrograde energies are meant to be used as a time of introspection.Back in 2011 I wrote an article about the Pluto Retrograde we were experiencing then. Following is an excerpt from that article, but the same holds true for all planetary retrogrades. Each one just brings us opportunity to look at and work on different areas of our life for differing periods of time.
“Retrograde is what is meant by the apparent action and motion of a planet as we view it from earth. As viewed from earth, a retrograde planet appears to be standing still and/or moving in a backwards motion. When a planet is in retrograde, its energies and their affects on us, individually and collectively, are amplified. An example of this in a physical nature would be if you ran in place instead of running in a constant forward movement. In running in a constant forward motion your view is continuously changing, but if you run in place for an extended period of time, you are looking at the same view for this increased amount of time. You get to look at things in this one view and see the details very clearly.”

This gives us the “time” necessary for deep introspection, “time” to do “the hard work on self”, “time” for learning and true understanding of the more complex spiritual knowledge we are reawakening to.
The problem is, many people have a difficult time doing the hard work on self. The vast majority of people on the planet right now have fallen into the trap of consumerism and instant gratification, and unfortunately this has spilled over into the area of spirituality.
People seem to be looking for that “Magic Pill”; that one course they can take, that one book they can read, that one Guru they can follow, that will instantly make their life perfect, instantly fill them with a complete understanding of Universal Knowledge, and instantly they become a “Master”.
People seem to miss the knowing that Spiritual Awakening and the attainment of Enlightenment is an infinite journey, and each step along this journey’s path should be given the time, reverence and respect it is due.
The planet Mercury rules communication, travel, contracts, automobiles, and such. So, when Mercury is retrograde, remain flexible, allow time for extra travel, and avoid signing contracts. Review projects and plans at these times, but wait until Mercury is direct again to make any final decisions.”

HOW TO USE MERCURY RETROGRADE ENERGY BENEFICIALLY
The planet Mercury is known as the “Messenger of the Gods”. It rules communication. It directs the way we think, and how we communicate in our day-to-day interactions with others.
It is the planet of the mind and the mouth, and thus directs our style of communication and our level of focus.
The energies of Mercury have the ability to guide us (or should) in learning to think before we speak so we are communicating in the manner most beneficial to creating positive and peaceful outcomes to any situation, no matter how energetically stressed they may be.
As the “Messenger of the Gods”, Mercury also has the ability to bring us information from other realms and dimensional planes of reality.
IF… we can learn to master the often highly charged and disruptive energies to our physical life that are known to be created during times of Mercury Retrograde, we can strengthen our communications link with Spirit and thus more clearly receive and decode the vast amounts of Universal Knowledge we are able to access with the assistance of the energies created by a Mercury Retrograde.
I offer this information in the hopes it may assist in creating a change of perspective that can allow you to better utilize the higher nature of the Mercury Retrograde periods.
