The new moon supermoon on July 13, 2018, takes a bite out of the solar disk, to stage the first Friday the 13th solar eclipse since December 13, 1974. The next Friday the 13th solar eclipse won’t be forthcoming until September 13, 2080. All of these Friday the 13th solar eclipses taking place in 1974, 2018 and 2080 are partial. earthsky.org Read more here: http://earthsky.org/?p=281948 A total eclipse of the sun will occur exactly 19 years after the solar eclipse on July 13, 2018. However, this total solar eclipse on July 13, 2037, will fall on a Monday, rather than a Friday. To the best of our knowledge, a total solar eclipse won’t happen on Friday the 13th until Friday, June 13, 2132. This partial solar eclipse will be visible from very few locations on land. People in some parts of southern Australia, including those in Adelaide and Melbourne, will see a very small fraction of the eclipse. A majority of this partial eclipse of the Sun will take place over the Pacific and Indian Oceans. The eclipse can also be seen from a very small part of northern Antarctica. https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/s... DON’T EVER EVER EVER LOOK AT THE SUN THROUGH A TELEPHOTO LENS, BINOCULARS, OR A TELESCOPE without proper filtration. Partial solar eclipses happen when the Moon comes between the Sun and Earth, but the Moon only partially covers the Sun's disk. During a partial solar eclipse, the Moon, the Sun and Earth don't align in a perfectly straight line, and the Moon casts only the outer part of its shadow, the penumbra, on Earth. From our perspective, this looks like the Moon has taken a bite out of the Sun. Sometimes, the Moon covers only a tiny part of the Sun's disk. Other times a partial eclipse looks almost like a total eclipse. The size of the eclipsed area is referred to as eclipse magnitude. https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/p...
