Libra New Moon – October 15, 2012
The most dynamic transitional phase in world history is upon us. We
are experiencing the disintegration of the old paradigm and the birth
pangs of a New Age. Higher states of awareness and new dimensions of
experience are forwarding our spiritual growth at an accelerated speed.
This New Moon in Libra, sign of the scales of justice, beams another set
of guidelines into our soul awareness….. equality, balance,
brotherhood and love. Consciously expressing these energies in our lives
will help us move more easily through the challenging times ahead.
Venus, ruler of Libra, is the Mythic Goddess of Beauty, Harmony and
Love, the creative principle throughout all life. In the Northern
Hemisphere, the earth is becoming quieter, more withdrawn and peaceful.
We see the touch of Venus in the magnificent autumnal tableaus with
their explosion of natural beauty. We can tune into the magic of a
perfect sunset, a starlit sky, or a delicate hummingbird partaking of
the nectar of a fragrant flower. Opening our hearts to the tapestry of
life, we become aware of our relationship with all of God’s creation, of
our brotherhood with all life, and our spirit rejoices.
Early Christians considered Libra the emblem of Archangel Michael,
wielding his sword of truth to restore order and equilibrium. A more
modern symbol for justice is Athena, the Greek Goddess of Wisdom. She
appears blindfolded, indicating the impersonal nature of justice. Our
Libra energy promotes fairness, cooperation and reconciliation. Libra’s
evolutionary goal is brotherhood in action…. our concern for the welfare
of all people and all life.
“When we show our respect for other living things, they respond with respect for us.” Arapaho Indian proverb
We have arrived at an important crossroad in our individual lives,
and in the evolution of humanity as a whole. This New Moon in Libra is
conjunct Mars and trine (120 degrees) Uranus, signaling a collective
need to balance our inner masculine and feminine in order to bring
harmony into our relationships and lasting peace into the world. It is
time to open new avenues of empowerment for women. For thousands of
years, most of the world has been under elitist, patriarchal rule. Along
with the ongoing Pluto-Uranus square, this New Moon heralds the
resolution of these glaring inequalities and injustices, personally and
globally. Where are we out of balance? Where must we wield the sword of
truth?
Where the New Moon at 23 degrees Libra falls in our charts we
are discovering the true meaning of brotherhood. In our interactions
with others, our Libra energy seeks respect, equality, balance and
peace. Yet we will find these qualities in our relationships and in the
world, only when we have found them within ourselves. It is important to
remember that all our relationship challenges are offering us a path to
wholeness.
“Those who would penetrate the mysteries of the universe, and
understand the complexities of human relationships, rather to seek and
put this or that person right, must first look within, they must set
their own house in order.” White Eagle
Through our relationships we are learning self-mastery, self-trust,
self-respect and self-love. The more we know and respect ourselves, the
more understanding and compassion we can have for others. As we go
within, we find the spark of unconditional love that brings peace to our
soul.
“There can never be peace between nations until it is first known that true peace is within the souls of men.” Oglala Sioux proverb
Libra contains within itself, more than any other sign, the elements
of cosmic balance. The great Libran, Eleanor Roosevelt sought to bring
harmony, equality, justice and peace to her country and to the world.
These are the attributes contained in her ideal of brotherhood. They
are the precious gifts of this New Moon. As we each express these
qualities in our relationships and our lives, we can bring balance,
harmony, peace and healing to our magnificent garden planet.
The Sabian symbol for the New Moon at 23 degrees Libra: “Chanticleer’s voice heralds sunrise.
This inspiring symbol evokes the image of Chanticleer the rooster,
dramatically heralding the light at the dawn of the new day. In ancient
mythology, the rooster was dedicated to Apollo because he gives notice
of the rising Sun. A feeling of ascension is present here. As we enter
the Golden Age, old ways of functioning and living are no longer valid,
or even possible. As we “Let the Light Shine,” in the spirit of brotherhood and love, we can transform all darkness and bring lasting Peace on Earth.
“You are a bearer of the light, for you are as the Divine Mother,
bearing within you the light of the Son. Take this light into the world,
to bless and to heal, and quicken the vibrations of the whole earth.” White Eagle
