The new series will explore the subject of UFOs and the potential threat that they might pose to national security.
DeLonge is certainly no stranger to the phenomenon having previously founded the To the Stars Academy of Arts and Sciences - an organization devoted to the study of UFOs and alien life.
The new documentary, which will air on History in May, is entitled Unidentified: Inside America's UFO Investigation and will feature both DeLonge and Luis Elizondo - the former military intelligence officer who headed up the Pentagon's secretive Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP) which ran from 2007 to 2012 and received $22 million in funding.
"Former government officials disclose new information in an effort to change government policy about the potential threats UFOs pose to US national security," the synopsis reads.
DeLonge himself has expressed his enthusiasm for the new series:
"With this show, the real conversation can finally begin," he said. "I'm thankful to History for giving the To The Stars Academy team of world-class scientists, engineers and intelligence experts the opportunity to tell the story in a comprehensive and compelling way."
