A skydiver recently managed to cheat death after her parachutes failed to open during a skydive in Canada.
What might sound like the stuff of nightmares became chilling reality on Saturday after the 30-year-old, whose name has not been disclosed, experienced difficulties during her descent.
The woman had been participating in a jump at Quebec's Parachutisme Adrenaline skydiving facility near Montreal-Mirabel International Airport at around 6pm.
When she leapt from the plane, both her main and reserve chutes failed to open.
"We watched all the way to the end," said bystander Oceane Duplessis.
"We kept hoping something would happen. We were very worried. Very."
After plummeting 5,000ft the woman hit a patch of trees in a wooded area. Miraculously, despite the speed at which she had been falling, her injuries were not life-threatening.
She is now recovering in hospital and is doing well.
