The Royal Air Force (RAF) has announced that it will be releasing its archive of recent UFO reports to the public.
Like the US Air Force, the RAF is no stranger to receiving and investigating reports of unidentified flying objects, having been looking into the phenomenon for more than 50 years.
Back in 2009 however, the decision was made to wind down its UFO unit on the basis that no UFO report had ever yielded evidence of a credible threat against the country.
Typically UFO reports received by the RAF would end up at the National Archives where they would remain classified for a certain number of years before being released.
Now though, it has been revealed that all of the RAF's most recent reports will instead be released directly to the public sometime within the first quarter of this year.
"It had been assessed that it would be better to publish these records, rather than continue sending documents to the National Archives, and so they are looking to put them on to a dedicated gov.uk web page," said an RAF spokesman.
The move has been praised by UFO researchers including former MoD UFO investigator Nick Pope.
"The MoD have previously claimed that all the files have been released - only to find additional ones - so this latest move is bound to start a few conspiracy theories," he said.
