Watch the Moon Eat Mars - Red Planet Disappears Behind the Moon - Three Bright Planets Align at Dawn

Skywatchers around the world can watch as Mars disappears behind the Moon for about an hour, in an event called an occultation. If you’re on the right place on Earth’s surface, you can watch the Moon occult (cover over) Mars on Feb. 18. Spectacular line-up of three bright planets. On February 18, 2020, look at the sky to see the line of the Moon with three bright planets - Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. From around the world, these three planets line up across the early morning sky, with Mars at top, and Saturn at bottom. The brightest of the threesome – the king planet Jupiter – resides in between Mars and Saturn. The Moon swings in the vicinity of Jupiter on February 19 and to the south of Saturn on February 20. The bright reddish light high above to the right is Antares, Heart of the Scorpion in the constellation Scorpius. If you are an early riser, you can go outside to enjoy the show!
