A curious ring of smoke floating high above Disneyland, California was picked up on camera earlier this month.
Disneyland might be closed now due to the coronavirus pandemic, but back during the first week of this month visitors were treated to a spectacle that wasn't on any of the brochures.
Resembling a black smoke ring, the anomalous aerial phenomenon was filmed by several people and has since been viewed tens of thousands of times on social media.
But could this really be evidence of extraterrestrials or is there a more mundane explanation ?
As pointed out by several online commenters, the most likely explanation is that the ring was produced by a cannon used in one of the park's many attractions.
The World of Color show in the Pirates of the Caribbean section is thought to be a prime candidate.
Black rings like this one have been reported for years in many parts of the world, however in most cases the cause has been traced back to some sort of fire, explosion or industrial process.
Given the number of displays and effects at Disneyland, it's certainly not outside the realms of possibility that this particular smoke ring has a decidedly down-to-earth explanation.
