For the second time, pilots have witnessed a 'jetpack' flying at altitude over Los Angeles International Airport.
Back at the beginning of September, it was reported that the pilots of American Flight 1997 witnessed what they believed to be a "guy in a jetpack" 300 yards off their wing and 3,000ft up in the air.
The presence of something of this nature, especially at such a height and within the vicinity of a major international airport, sparked a great deal of debate at the time, however no explanation for the sighting was ever found and nobody came forward to identify themselves as the culprit.
Now, less than two months on from the incident, a China Airlines crew has reported another sighting of a jetpack over the area - this time flying at 6,000 feet around 7 miles northwest of LAX.
What makes the phenomenon so strange is that jetpacks will typically make a large amount of noise and be fairly noticeable - yet nobody on the ground seemed to have seen or heard anything.
Both the FAA and the FBI are now investigating the sightings.
Could someone be testing out a sophisticated jetpack over Los Angeles or is the whole thing an elaborate prank - perhaps involving a mannequin strapped to a drone ?
"Only in LA," one of the pilots was quoted as saying.
The search for answers continues.
