Why is the topic of UFOs suddenly going mainstream after years of secrecy and ridicule? Are there powerful interests who somehow want to profit off of disclosure and control the narrative of what this phenomenon represents?
The UFO topic is getting and has been getting a tremendous amount of mainstream media coverage. As a result, many people in the “truther” space feel that there is some sort of big lie, deception and manipulation going on given their belief that anything the mainstream media promotes ‘must be a lie.’ I would argue that yes, mainstream media has become extremely hard for people to trust these days when it comes to major global and geopolitical events given the fact that they’ve been exposed so many times completely lying or severely twisting the story. Too many times there has been credible information and evidence that completely opposes their claims and perspectives.
The UFO phenomenon is actually a great example of this. For decades the idea that UFOs are real and that beings from other worlds have been visiting us has been completely ridiculed by the mainstream media, there has been, as former CIA director Roscoe Hillenkoetter said many years ago, “an official campaign of ridicule and secrecy.” As a result of this ridicule we’ve seen, especially from mainstream media, UFOs remained in the “conspiracy theory” realm for many years.

So I ask you this, why would the mainstream ridicule a topic for so many years if they wanted to convince and deceive the public that it was real? It just doesn’t make any sense. The idea that everything the mainstream media covers is false doesn’t resonate with me, based on my research and what I’ve seen over the years mainstream media does indeed cover real events and phenomena but often twists the narrative around in an attempt to control the perception of the viewer. I believe this may be happening with the UFO phenomenon and given the fact that many people have become aware that it is indeed real, mainstream media has thus jumped on the topic in an attempt, perhaps, to control our perspective surrounding the the topic of UFOs.
One thing is for certain, the UFO topic is no longer taboo, and another example of that recently emerged from an interview with one of the most recent directors of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). In an interview with Tyler Cowen of the Mercatus Center (a university-based research center) former CIA Director John Brennan (2013-2017) was asked about the UFO phenomenon.
He stated the following:
I think some of the phenomenon we may be seeing continues to be, um, unexplained, and um, might in fact be some type of phenomenon that is the result of something that, um, we don’t yet understand, and that could involve some type of activity that some might say, um, constitutes a different from of life. (source)
This should not come as a surprise, there are hundreds of people like Brennan with such backgrounds, be it intelligence agency directors, astronauts, high ranking military personnell, academics and more who have all shared their opinion, experiences and evidence showing that “the phenomenon is indeed real and not something visionary or fictitious.” (General Nathan Twining) Radar tracking data, pictures and videos released by multiple governments, including the United States, have also created quite the buzz and has this topic trending more so than it ever has.
