The Chinese population have been venting their anger over the latest food shortages on social media. Amid a new spike in virus cases, Chinese authorities decided to reimpose lockdowns in several cities across the nation. However, oftentimes restrictions start without advance notification and residents are locked in their homes without any chance to get prepared, many of them were left without enough food to go through the week. As a result, the high volume of online orders for food has created a shortage in multiple locations and many have affirmed to be going hungry.
Conversely, in cities where restrictions are looser, people have been preparing for the big Chinese Lunar New Year but finding food prices soaring in numerous items, which will make reunion dinner much more expensive this year, and in some cases, out of reach. As the food problem intensifies in the world’s most populous country, the public is getting furious with the government response, and the consequences of it might lead to much more unrest in the months ahead. That’s what we expose in this video.
