Heads up! US likely planning a big chemical weapons false flag to provide an excuse for another illegal invasion: Thousands of US troops arrive near Syrian shore on USS Eisenhower 06 Dec 2012 The USS Eisenhower, an American aircraft carrier that holds eight fighter bomber squadrons and 8,000 men, arrived at the Syrian coast yesterday in the midst of a heavy storm, indicating US preparation for a potential ground intervention. While the Obama administration has not announced any sort of American-led military intervention in the war-torn country, the US is now ready to launch such action "within days" if Syrian President Bashar al-Assad decides to use chemical weapons against the opposition, the Times reports.
Pentagon planning for multinational military operation in Mali --Military operation could begin next year 05 Dec 2012 U.S. military planners have begun to help organize a multinational proxy force to intervene next year in Mali, U.S. officials said Wednesday. The international force would be led on the ground by several thousand Malian and West African troops but would receive extensive support from the Pentagon and the State Department, which would help train, equip and transport the troops, Obama administration officials said. U.S. officials said the Pentagon's planning efforts are contingent on the U.N. Security Council's endorsement of the African-led force.
U.S. Commandos' New Landlord in Afghanistan: Blackwater --Academi's *22 million no-bid contract runs through May 2015 05 Dec 2012 U.S. Special Operations Forces have a brand new home in Afghanistan. It’s owned and operated by the security company formerly known as Blackwater, thanks to a no-bid deal worth *22 million. You might think that Blackwater, now called Academi, was banished into some bureaucratic exile after its operatives in Afghanistan stole guns from U.S. weapons depots and killed Afghan civilians. Wrong. Academi's private 10-acre compound outside Kabul, called Camp Integrity, is the new headquarters for perhaps the most important special operations unit in Afghanistan. That would be the Special Operations Joint Task Force–Afghanistan, created on July 1 to unite and oversee the three major spec-ops "tribes" throughout Afghanistan, which command some 7,000 elite troops in all. It's run by Army Maj. Gen. Raymond "Tony" Thomas, a former deputy commander of the Joint Special Operations Command, and is already tasked with reforming how those elite forces train Afghan villagers to fight the Taliban protect the CIA's opium routes... Academi's no-bid contract runs through May 2015.
UN calls on Israel to open nuclear facilities 04 Dec 2012 The U.N. General Assembly has overwhelmingly approved a resolution calling on Israel to quickly open its nuclear program for inspection and backing a high-level conference to ban nuclear weapons from the Middle East which was just canceled. All the Arab nations and Iran had planned to attend the conference in mid-December in Helsinki, Finland, but the United States announced on Nov. 23 that it wouldn't take place... Iran and some Arab nations countered that the real reason for the cancellation was Israel's refusal to attend. The resolution, approved Monday by a vote of 174-6 with 6 abstentions, calls on Israel to join the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty "without further delay" and open its nuclear facilities to inspection by the International Atomic Energy Agency. Those voting "no" were Israel, the U.S., Canada, Marshall Islands, Micronesia and Palau.

Obama to fill key posts in weeks, Republican Hagel on Pentagon short list [Of course! Hagel met the Democratic president at the White House this week to discuss a post on his national security team. Obama is still deliberating whether to unveil his top national security appointments, likely to include a new CIA director, in a single high-profile package this month or to name them one-by-one, according to an administration official who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Bradley Manning lawyer: soldier's treatment a blemish on nation's history 04 Dec 2012 David Coombs, the civilian lawyer representing Bradley Manning at his court martial for supplying WikiLeaks with a trove of US state secrets, has described the soldier's treatment in solitary confinement at Quantico marine base as criminal and a blot on the nation's history. Making rare comments outside the courtroom, Coombs addressed an audience of Bradley Manning supporters in a Unitarian church in Washington on Monday night and lashed out at the military hierarchy for allowing the intelligence analyst to be subjected to nine months of harsh suicide prevention regime against the advice of doctors. "Brad's treatment at Quantico will forever be etched into our nation's history as a disgraceful moment in time," he said. "Not only was it stupid and counter-productive, it was criminal..."

At pretrial hearings this week in Ft. Meade, Md., a military court heard about the harsh conditions in which Private Manning was held after his arrest, first in Kuwait and later on U.S. military bases. At a pre-trial hearing investigating the conditions in which Manning was held in custody, former Quantico brig supervisor Master Sergeant Brian Papakie said guards had acted in the accused's best interests. Papakie said he knew Manning was gay but refuted claims that he had made fun of the army private's sexuality by using the word "panties" in a memo for other guards relaying how he was to be treated at night.
Japan scientists assessing radiation risks took travel money from utilities - AP 06 Dec 2012 Influential Japanese scientists who help set national radiation exposure limits have for years had trips paid for by the country's nuclear plant operators to attend overseas meetings of the world's top academic group on radiation safety. The potential conflict-of-interest is revealed in one sentence buried in a 600-page parliamentary investigation into last year's Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear power plant disaster and pointed out to The Associated Press by a medical doctor on the 10-person investigation panel. Some of these same scientists have consistently given optimistic assessments about the health risks of radiation, interviews with the scientists and government documents show.

He asserts that the FBI has access to this data due to a powerful device, Naris.
NYC Rigged Red-Light Cameras, Motorists Allege in Class-Action Lawsuit --3 Drivers Forced to Pay, Now Say Were Set Up In City M*ney Grab 04 Dec 2012 Red-light cameras are gaining popularity across the country. Now, New York City is being sued after it was accused of rigging the lights to catch more drivers and write more tickets. They're "gotcha" cameras, mounted at intersections. Their photos catch and fine drivers running red lights. By federal law, drivers have to have enough time to get through a yellow light -- three seconds at the typical 30 mph intersection. Back in October, engineers at AAA New York discovered a problem. At some intersections with the cameras, the yellow lights were almost a half-second too fast... Mayor Michael Bloomberg is fighting to install more cameras. [We don't have to be stuck with drones, surveillance cameras, and rigged red-light cameras. These are machines of the US police state, created and implemented to enhance the coffers of the corpora-terrorists who build them and the politicians who approve them. Just take them out - problem solved.]

More data pointing to slowdown in US economy 04 Dec 2012 Following a dismal report last week on retail sales for November, the first month of the holiday shopping season, manufacturing data released Monday confirmed that the US economy is weakening...The report registered a return to negative growth after two months of tepid expansion. The PMI has been below 50 for four of the last six months. The scale of the decline is indicated by the fact that the ISM’s factory index averaged 55.2 in 2011 and 57.3 in 2010...The fall in manufacturing coincides with slumping consumer spending. On Friday, the Commerce Department reported that consumer spending fell in October for the first time in five months and income growth stalled, with wages and salaries actually dropping 0.2 percent.
Austerity to last until 2018, admits George Osborne 05 Dec 2012 George Osborne unveils a real-terms cut in working age benefits in his autumn statement in a bid to boost the UK's struggling economy. With the latest inflation figure, as of last month, at 2.7 per cent - the increases would mean a real-terms cut in benefits payments. Britain's working age benefits claimants will be hit by the cut, with the one per cent cap applying to job-seekers allowance, employment and support allowance and income support.
Obamacare architect leaves White House for pharmaceutical industry job 05 Dec 2012 When the legislation that became known as "Obamacare" was first drafted, the key legislator was the Democratic Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, Max Baucus, whose committee took the lead in drafting the legislation. As Baucus himself repeatedly boasted, the architect of that legislation was Elizabeth Fowler, his chief health policy counsel... What was most amazing about all of that was that, before joining Baucus's office as the point person for the health care bill, Fowler was the Vice President for Public Policy and External Affairs (i.e. informal lobbying) at WellPoint, the nation's largest health insurance provider (before going to WellPoint, as well as after, Fowler had worked as Baucus's top health care aide). And when that health care bill was drafted, the person whom Fowler replaced as chief health counsel in Baucus's office, Michelle Easton, was lobbying for WellPoint as a principal at Tarplin, Downs, and Young... Now, as Politico's "Influence" column briefly noted on Tuesday, Fowler is once again passing through the deeply corrupting revolving door as she leaves the Obama administration to return to the loving and lucrative arms of the private health care industry: "Elizabeth Fowler is leaving the White House for a senior-level position leading 'global health policy' at Johnson & Johnson's government affairs and policy group."
Publicist confirms it: Fox News banned book critical of George W. Bush 04 Dec 2012 n his much-discussed mea culpa about the reality-denialism of movement conservatism, Bruce Bartlett made a striking claim: He wrote that he was not allowed on Fox News -- where he had previously been a regular guest -- to discuss a book he'd just published that was highly critical of George W. Bush. I've just received confirmation of this episode on the record from Bartlett's publicist [Nicole Dewey] at the time.
