The move aims to mitigate any potential threat posed by UAPs to nuclear facilities across the continent.
Over the years we've heard numerous testimonies from individuals working at nuclear facilities in the United States regarding UFOs being sighted over (and even negatively impacting) ICBMs, prompting concerns over the ongoing safety and security of the country's nuclear deterrent.
Now in a renewed effort to mitigate any risks that these objects may pose, officials in Canada have agreed to share information on UAPs with their US counterparts in the interests of nuclear security.
This co-operation was outlined recently in a pair of letters published online from Canada's Natural Resources department and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC).
"Given the shared priority for nuclear safety and security of nuclear facilities, and the growing interest in UAPs [unidentified aerial phenomena] in both Canada and the United States, the CNSC is committed to raising the issue with its United States counterpart and sharing any related information going forward," Deputy Minister of Natural Resources John Hannaford wrote in one of the letters.
"We have reached out to counterparts in the United States Department of Energy regarding the Office of the Director of National Intelligence's Preliminary Report on UAPs to learn more about its perspective in order to help inform analysis and action in Canada."
