Artemis 1: Launching on August 29
Artemis 1 is our 1st step in a human return to the moon. And it has all the dazzle of the earlier race to the moon in the 1960s … a giant rocket, with powerful thrust … an unmatched element of daring. The countdown clock began ticking yesterday (August 27, 2022) at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, for a launch window that opens on Monday, August 29, at 12:33 UTC (8:33 a.m. EDT). Kennedy Space Center is providing around-the-clock video coverage of Pad 39B – where the moonship is currently awaiting liftoff. You can also gaze at Pad 39B in real time at the stream at the top of this page.
Also via the video at top, you can watch a live webcast beginning Monday at 10 UTC (6:30 a.m. EDT).
If weather or other issues foil plans, there are 2 alternate launch dates in the 1st week of September.
