5 Aromatherapy Oils Everyone Should Have at Home
I Love Aromatherapy. I have used essential oils in my life for over
30 years, and they are wonderful, healing, natural forms of medicine. I
love all forms of natural healing and taking charge of my own health
has been a lifelong passion for me. I would love to share some of my
expertise in this field, and maybe you will find the joys of
Aromatherapy too.
Here is my list of the top 5 essential oils to never be without:
1. LAVENDER OIL: This oil is very gentle with a soft, floral herbal
scent. It is excellent for calming, relaxing and soothing. Lavender
balances the central nervous system. It is great for all skin types. I
use it for burns, sunburns, muscular aches, stings, cuts, blemishes,
headaches, insect bites, colds, flu, stress and insomnia. Can be used
without needing to dilute. Very safe. I personally never dilute it.
Of course you can dilute if you want to.
Lavender oil properties: Antiseptic, Antispasmodic, Nervine, Sedative, Antidepressant, Analgesic
2. PEPPERMINT OIL: A strong, minty aroma with cooling, refreshing
and stimulating effects. Uses are poor memory, depression, confusion,
stomach upsets, fever, dandruff, insect repellant, headaches, blemishes,
poison oak/ivy(it worked great when I had a bad case of poison ivy),
nasal congestion, anything to do with the respiratory tract, vertigo,
fainting, toothaches, muscle pain, and stress. Be careful applying
directly to the skin without diluting first. I was fine not diluting
it. See how you react to it.
Peppermint Oil Properties: Antiseptic, Carminative, Decongestant, Analgesic, Antispasmodic, Antiviral
3. EUCALYPTUS OIL: Penetrating, camphorous odor. Stimulating,
balancing, and cooling. Uses are respiratory ailments, colds,
sinusitis, fever, aching muscles, asthma, relieves arthritis, eases
rheumatism, insect repellent, insect bites, cuts, wounds, sore tendons,
carpal tunnel, mental sluggishness, exhaustion, stress, mouth wash,
gingivitis, and natural deodorant. Pretty gentle and safe; can be
diluted or not, but use your own judgment. Sometime I use it diluted
and sometimes I don't.
Eucalyptus Oil Properties: Antiseptic, Expectorant, Analgesic,
Anti-Bacterial, Anti-Inflammatory, Anti-Neuralgic, Antispasmodic,
Decongestant, Stimulant, Antiviral, and Astringent.

abrasions, abscesses, bad, breath, cavities, gum disease, boils,
blisters, acne, infections, athlete's foot, colds, dandruff, dry skin,
insect bites, mold, fungus, psoriasis, and warts. Very safe and gentle
like Lavender. Always use your own judgment as to whether to dilute or
not. I don't dilute this one.
Tea Tree Oil Properties: Antifungal, Antiviral, Antibacterial,
Antimicrobial, Antiseptic, Fungicide, Insecticide, Stimulant, Sudorific
5. OREGANO OIL: Spicy-herbaceous odor. King of natural
antibiotics. Used for infections of every kind, colds, flu, sore
throat, tonsillitis, sinusitis, excellent pain killer, destroys all
varieties of fungi, yeasts, and parasites, toothache, abscesses,
indigestion, insect bites, alleviates arthritis, bursitis, carpal
tunnel, sore muscles, backaches, fibromyalgia, rheumatism, alleviates
migraines, sinus headaches, athletes foot, helps neutralize and extract
venom from spider, snake and insect bites, allergic reactions to wasp or
bee stings, alleviates painful, blistered burns, allergies, hayfever
and fatigue. Use with caution: Always dilute if applied directly to
the skin or taken internally. Oh yeah...Dilute it all right! With
water or vegetable oil.
Oregano Oil Properties: Antiviral, Antibacterial, Antifungal,
Antiparasitic, Antispasmodic, Antiseptic, Anti- inflammatory, Analgesic,
and Antimicrobial.
PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS OF ESSENTIAL OILS[/url]
BATH: Add 10 to 15 drops of essential oil to a full bath. Foot and
Hand baths: 8 to 10 drops in a large bowl of warm water. Soak for 15
minutes.
COMPRESS: Add 8 to 10 drops of essential oil to 2 cups hot or cold
water. Soak cotton cloth, wring and place on skin. Repeat every 15
minutes for up to an hour.
DIFFUSER: Very effective for inhalations. Turn on diffuser for 5 to 15 minute intervals.
INHALATIONS: Place 1 to 3 drops of essential oil on a cloth to
inhale. Or put 3 to 8 drops of essential oil into a large pan/bowl of
hot water, cover head and bowl with a towel, and inhale deeply for 5 to
10 minutes. Do not use during asthma attacks! I did this for my
husband when he had pneumonia. Worked like a charm. I used oregano,
eucalyptus, tea tree and lavender oils.
MASSAGE OIL: Add 12 to 15 drops of essential oil to every one ounce of vegetable oil(almond, sunflower, etc.)
INSIDE THE MOUTH: Tea Tree is the best one to use safely. 2 to 4
drops of tea tree oil to one cup of water. Can also apply 2 drops to
your toothbrush and brush away with whatever you use for toothpaste(I do
this everyday to keep my gums healthy). I have gargled with oregano
oil, and it's been OK. It is strong! If I had an abscess, I'd put
straight oregano oil right on it.
BODY SPRAY: 10 to 20 drops of essential oil to every 4 ounces of water
An excellent body mist spray using ROSE essential oil helps with
mature, dry, normal, sensitive and damaged skin, PMS, menopause, mood
swings, emotional upsets, opening the heart, and self-motivation. I
love this one!
OINTMENT: Add 25-30 drops of essential oil to every one ounce of vegetable oil(I personally use olive oil)
INTERNAL: I only have used Oregano Oil internally... very diluted
with olive oil. For infections. Works great to Kill, Kill, Kill.
LOL!
Make sure that when you are purchasing or using essential oils that they are 100% pure, therapeutic grade. Enjoy!
