The uncertain fate of the plane immediately drew comparisons to another missing flight in Southeast Asia, Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, which disappeared while flying from Malaysia to Beijing. The search for that plane continues.
AirAsia had few details to share about the incident involving its Airbus A320-200. Indonesia's National Search and Rescue Agency reported that the plane was set to enter Singapore airspace at 6:52 p.m.
This story is developing.
