BREAKING NEWS: Airliner with 54 aboard loses contact in Indonesia
Editor BDTN Murray at 11:05An airliner with 54 people aboard lost contact with air traffic control over the remote province of Papua in Indonesia on Sunday, Reuters and the Associated Press report.
Transportation Ministry spokesman Julius Barata says a plane belonging to Trigana Air Service lost contact Sunday afternoon while flying from Papua's provincial capital, Jayapura, to the Papua city of Oksibil, according to the AP.
He said the ATR42-300 twin turboprop plane, which was carrying 49 passengers and five crew members, lost contact 33 minutes after taking off.
