December 29-30: Buckingham Palace were forced to confirm that the Queen is not dead after a sick Twitter hoax claimed that she had passed away while battling a cold.
A spokesman said: "The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh continue to recover from their heavy colds."
Hours before, a spoof BBC news account tweeted: “BREAKING: Buckingham Palace announces the death of Queen Elizabeth II at the age of 90. Circumstances are unknown. More to follow.”
The account was later suspended, but not before social media users began speculating that a “media blackout” was covering up the news until it could be reported properly at 8am.

December 25: The Queen was forced to miss the annual Christmas Day church service at Sandringham in Norfolk for the first time.
Prince Philip attended two services at 9am and 11am, and was joined by other royals including Prince Harry and Charles.
A Buckingham Palace spokesman said: “The Queen continues to recover from a heavy cold and will stay indoors to assist with her recovery. Her Majesty will participate in the Royal Family Christmas celebrations during the day.”
Despite her illness, the Queen’s Christmas speech went ahead as planned. The annual message was prerecorded at Buckingham Palace and saw her pay tribute to ”ordinary people doing extraordinary things”.
