The April Pink Moon 2019 will rise this month in a stunning display of lunar showmanship. For most of human history, the moon was largely a mystery. It spawned awe and fear and to this day is the source of muth and legend. The April full moon always shines in or near the stars of Virgo. As darkness falls on April 18, you’ll see the almost-full waxing gibbous moon rather close to Spica, Virgo’s one and only 1st-magnitude star. On April 19, 2019, the moon turns full at 11:12 UTC. April's Full Moon is known as the Pink Moon. Unfortunately the moon will not turn a bright pink colour at the end of the month, but the full moon will be spectacular on its own. According to Royal Observatory Greenwich, the April full moon derives its names from a species of pink early blooming wildflower, observed by Northern Native Americans. In the Southern Hemisphere, where it’s autumn, this April full moon counts as the Southern Hemisphere’s Hunter’s Moon. If you live at middle or far southerly latitudes, enjoy your April Hunter’s Moon. https://earthsky.org/?p=303292 https://www.space.com/16149-night-sky...
